I currently have 42 pins in my collection ranging from 1966 to 1995.
I began touching-up and clearcoating pins in 2001 with SPACE SHUTTLE.
Since then I have done several of my own as well as for other people.
The way I go about the process is . . . I do not need everything removed from the under side of the playfield. I just need everything removed below the surface of the top of the playfield. I clean the playfield to remove dirt, old wax, and ball swirls . . . I touch-up the playfield with acrylic paints. Then I clearcoat using varathane, from 3 to 6 coats depending on the condition of the playfield. Once clearcoated the cure time is about a month before I would put anything back on the top of the playfield.
I love to take a pin that most would part out and bring it back to it’s “glory days”!! It takes work and time, but the end result is well worth the wait!! |
